RUBIO UPDATE

With all of the Rubio talk lately, I’m really hoping the wolves can get him to come over to the NBA. I actually have a tidbit of inside info!!!
My uncle confirms that he saw Ricky Rubio in a Minneapolis, Minnesota coffee shop a couple of days after the draft. He even said that he pointed out Rubio to a coffee shop employee, and that when he didn’t believe him, they found a copy of the newspaper from a few days earlier with his picture in it. They both agreed that it was indeed Rubio. I’ve heard rumors that he may have gone to MN, but now I know it’s true!!!!

MY TOP 3

MY TOP 3

I’ve been getting excited about all of the trades and free agent signings in the NBA so I’ve decided to make a list of the top 10 players that I want to see play in person. Just to note, of the top guys in the NBA, I’ve already seen shaq and kobe, steve nash, dwight howard, and KG so they won’t be on my list.

1. Lebron James-
as much as I know his flaws, he’s gonna be one of the greatest players of all time, nuf said

2. Dwayne Wade-
right up there with Lebron, amazing player!

3. Carmelo Anthony-
I’ve always like Melo, especially after watching him play for team USA

4. Allen Iverson-
I know he’s not the player he once was, but easily a hall of famer, my time is running out to see him play!!!

5. Vince Carter-
Probably one of the top 2 or 3 dunkers of all time, living in Orlando this one should be easy to accomplish!!!

6. Chris Paul-
Awesome triple double potential, probably the best PG in the game today!

7. Dirk Nowitzki-
Probably the best 3-point shooting big man in NBA history, possibly the best international player of all time.

8. Tim Duncan-
Possibly the greatest power forward of all-time, definitely had the best back shot.

9. Pau Gasol-
The 2nd best player on my favorite team!, awesome fundamentally sound 7-footer

10. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace-
the three best players(besides KG) on the team I hate the most! all of which have a shot at the hall of fame!

ARTEST A LAKER!!!!!

RON RON

RON RON

What is going on in the NBA? Madness!!!! Shaq to cleveland, jefferson to san antonio, carter to orlando! and now…. Artest to the Lakers!!!! I’ll start of by saying that I have some mixed feelings about this. During the playoffs I became a huge Trevor Ariza fan, he stepped up and made a lot of big plays. I really feel bad becuase I think he would have ultimately stayed with the lakers if not for artest. The lakers offered him pretty much the same amount of money that he’s gonna get from the rockets now. His agent wanted to play hardball and try to drive the lakers offer up, but i still think he would have ended up with the lakeshow, i mean come on, he’s from L.A. and they just won it all!!! of course he wanted to stay! Now we’ll find out how much potential he really has in houston, where he’s probably one of their best players. Now the lakers basically just figured why play games with ariza’s agent when we can get ron artest at a similar price? Not only do they get artest, but they keep him from signing with another contender like cleveland! If artest does what is asked of him, he can be great for the lakers. He just needs to be a lock down defender and do some of the dirty work for the team. He probably doesn’t need to score more than 12-15 points a game, especially if they retain odom as well. Now Kobe will be able to get more rest both in playing less minutes, and in not always having to guard the other teams best player. Ron is known for doing a great job guarding both carmelo and lebron, so that will help a lot. As long as he doesn’t jack up to many stupid shots and doesn’t go punching any more fans, it could be amazing! All of that being said it’s still possible that he could ruin the teams chemistry and be their down fall. No matter what, it will be very interesting. In closing I just wanna say again that I feel for ariza, but if you’re gonna play games in a market like this you’re gonna get burned. Ron Artest, Welcome to Hollywood!!!!

RUBIO????

"ROCKSTAR" RUBIOI’m getting really really annoyed by these foreign players that come into the NBA. They want to pick and choose who they play for and I think it’s absurd! I mean every guy has a preference, but come on it’s the NBA!!!! Rubio, go to the timberwolves and if u hate it soooooo much leave in a couple years as a free agent! big deal. These guys are given amazing opportunities and they want to just manipulate way too much! You think Flynn wants to play in MN? probably not but it’s what he’s gonna do to make a name for himself at the very least. It’s not like Rubio couldn’t buy a house in Miami or LA and spend the offseason there, it’s not like MN is Russia or anything? I just wish these guys would man up and do what the americans do, work hard and earn respect no matter who drafts you!

TOP 50

TOP 50

Slam Magazine just came out with a list of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time
(http://www.slamonline.com/online/the-magazine/features/2009/06/the-new-top-50/)
It’s important to point out that this list was made earlier this season, thus any of the active players(kobe kobe kobe) may have moved up or down in the minds of the writers!!!

1) Michael Jordan
2) Wilt Chamberlain
3) Bill Russell
4) Shaquille O’Neal
5) Oscar Robertson
6) Magic Johnson
7) Kareem Abdul Jabbar
8. Tim Duncan
9) Larry Bird
10) Jerry West
11) Elgin Baylor
12) Kobe Bryant
13) Hakeem Olajuwon
14) Bob Pettit
15) Julius Erving
16) Moses Malone
17) John Havlicek
18) Karl Malone
19) Isiah Thomas
20) Charles Barkley
21) Rick Barry
22) John Stockton
23) Elvin Hayes
24) Bob Cousy
25) David Robinson
26) Kevin McHale
27) Scottie Pippen
28) Jason Kidd
29) George Mikan
30) Kevin Garnett
31) Willis Reed
32) Wes Unseld
33) Nate Thurmond
34) Dolph Schayes
35) Walt Frazier
36) Patrick Ewing
37) Jerry Lucas
38) Gary Payton
39) Allen Iverson
40) Billy Cunningham
41) Clyde Drexler
42) LeBron James
43) Dominique Wilkins
44) Dave Cowens
45) George Gervin
46) Bob McAdoo
47) Earl Monroe
48) Dennis Rodman
49) Walt Bellamy
50) Steve Nash

My question is why didn’t they wait until the season was over? Kobe, based on the fact that he added another championship and got his first finals MVP, probably would jump at least a couple of spots! and at the beginning of the article the writer states that with active players they act as if they were to retire tomarrow, where would they stand. How can they even justify Lebron being in the top 50? he’s one of the top 50 most talented, and has the potential to be at or near the top of this list when all is said and done, but based on the criteria, WTF?

2009-2010???

espy8WOW!!!!!! what a great end to the NBA season. The lakers are champions again and kobe got the ring without shaq that I knew would come eventually. The funny thing for me is trying to figure out what next season will look like. The NBA world is revolving around kobe and lebron so it’s those two figures that i wonder about the most. First of all, Kobe had an amazing year. Bryant put up great numbers and lead the lakers to a championship. The biggest storyline throughout the season was the debate about who is the best individual player in the game. Lebron won mvp, but kobe lead his team to a title and captured the finals mvp. One of my biggest questions is how those two players will approach the upcoming season. Kobe definitely looked serious, the game face and everything! He rarely smiled until the job was done. Now that he’s finally won a ring without shaq will he ease up and just have fun? Is the monkey off his back in his mind? For lebron it’s almost the opposite, all season long he and his teammates were having fun and at the end they ultimately crumbled. Will lebron ditch his happy-go-lucky style in favor of a more serious “killer instinct,” like approach? Will trusting his teammates when it mattered most, and seeing them fail change the way he plays next year? All of these questions excite me about next season. And!!!!! What if Shaq goes to cleveland? will he throw a wrench into the cavs chemistry? will it keep lebron in cleveland? if they win it would be pretty ironic, and you could question whether or not lebron could do it without shaq! All of these storylines just between Lebron and Kobe make next season seem far away!!! I can’t wait!!!!

VINDICATED

Posted in lakers, magic, nba with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 16, 2009 by mplslaker

LEBRON WHO???

LEBRON WHO???

VINDICATED 100% What can you possibly say now? All season people questioned the lakers heart, their toughness, and whether or not their LEADER could carry them to the promised land. Now it’s over! They had the heart, They had the toughness, and Kobe lead them like a true MVP. All the talk of the cavs and the magic, and lebron and howard, and the talented denver team,it’s over!!!! The lakers are the team left standing, and Kobe led the way. It wasn’t the most dominant playoff team off all time, but they won every game that they needed to win, overcoming anything and anyone in their way! Just look at all of the questions that were put to rest in this finals….

Q. can kobe win without shaq? A. yes
Q. can the lakers play championship defense? A. yes
Q. can pau gasol play tough? A. yes
Q. at age 33 can fisher still be a difference maker? A. yes
any more questions??????

And on top of that consider this, who would have thought that the laker team of last year could have won the championship with bynum only scoring 33 points in the series and Sasha Vujacic making exactly 0 field goals!!!! NO ONE!!!!!!! The scariest thing is that Bynum still has a lot of unrealized potential and the team as a whole is very young, and now, they have finals experience!!!!

What can you possibly say about kobe now? that whole idea that he can’t win without shaq has been proven wrong, no longer a theory or a possibility, but an absolute reality!!! In my opinion, if you were one to discredit kobe for having not won a ring without shaq, you not only have to give him credit for the one that he just won, but also for the titles he won with the diesel! the arguments are drying up, kobe was the mvp of a championship team without shaq! they beat a magic team in 5 games that beat cleveland team in 6 games. They were the best team, no if ands or maybes!!!! and just out of curiousity, for those that say lebron would have won with the team that kobe had, if kobe had lebrons team don’t you think he could have beat detroit and atlanta too? either way, kobe and the lakers beat every team that was thrown in front of them. There’s very little you can say about this team anymore, and as far as i’m concerned lebron has to best kobe a few more times in the regular season and the playoffs before i concede that he is the best player in the nba. Kobe is the best player on the best team, just like he was this summer during the Olympics. What a way to end a crazy season!!!! and to all the haters, I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!

DFISH HEROICS

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Dfish again twice!!!!! Did anyone else realize that Hedo witnessed both of fishers huge shots in game four, as well as the famous shot that fisher hit with 0.4 remaining against the spurs? haha. HT must be Fisher’s good luck charm or something. That shot that fisher hit to send the game into OT was crazy!!! Can you imagine what kind of crap he would have got had he missed it? pull up three when he was 0-5 from behind the arc until that shot! and with the play obviously being designed for Bryant. I’ll give fish all the credit in the world, that took some serious guts. What a fun game to watch! when the magic took a five point lead with a little over a minute to go in the fourth i was seriously nervous. I know i’ve seen laker magic before, but it’s been a while since there was an ending like that. When it hit overtime I knew the lakers would win. Kobe came down and drained a couple of jumpers, it looked like it was in the lakers favor pretty quick. But orlando kept fighting until fisher hit another monumental three, I couldnt believe it. The next thing I knew Pau was diving for a loose ball and got a big dunk to seal the deal! 100% awesome! The lakers now stand one win away from another nba championship and it’s starting to seem more and more possible. It would take a gigantic collapse for the magic to win the series, and I just don’t think they can go to LA and win two games. I guess anything is possible and I for one will never call it over until it is absolutely OVER, I mean after the clock reads 00.00 with the score set in stone! Ya never know what’s gonna happen and there is a first time for everything so I’m still gonna watch and see how it plays out! ppppppleaaaaaaaase lakers, end it tomarrow! leave no hope, blow them out and get ready for a parade in LA!!!!!
and p.s. how about Trevor Ariza too!!!! super clutch!!!
